Pre-Listing Checklist
A well-prepared boat sells faster and for more money. Use this checklist to get your vessel buyer-ready.
Cleaning & Detailing
- Wash and wax the hull and topsides
- Clean all windows, hatches, and portlights
- Scrub the deck — remove mildew, stains, and dirt
- Clean and condition all vinyl and upholstery
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets
- Clean the bilge — buyers will check
- Wipe down all surfaces in galley and head
- Remove personal items and clutter
- Clean and organize storage compartments
Repairs & Maintenance
- Fix any leaks (ports, hatches, plumbing)
- Service the engine (oil, filters, impeller)
- Check and replace worn belts and hoses
- Test all electronics and navigation lights
- Repair or replace torn canvas and isinglass
- Fix squeaky hinges and sticky drawers
- Touch up gelcoat scratches and chips
- Ensure all safety equipment is current
Paperwork & Docs
- Vessel title (clear, lien-free)
- Current registration
- Maintenance records (organized)
- Engine service history
- Any warranties still in effect
- Survey reports (if available)
- Insurance documentation
- List of recent upgrades and improvements
